Have you gone bug catching yet?
Materials: YouTube, rocks, paint brush, paint, other crafty items.
Main Learning Outcomes: Developing fine motor skills, creativity and early literacy skills.
(1) First, sit together with your child to read the story, “Bugs Galore” by Peter Stein. If you don’t have the book at home, you can listen to it by following this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZn0xhnhCV8
(2) Now let’s step into nature and collect a small rock or two. Place the rock on a paper towel or newspaper to protect your surface area. Now paint the rock to create a creepy crawly bug of your choice. Add glitter, googly eyes or any other craft items that you have at home.
Tips: If you don’t have paint at home, or you prefer to be less messy, feel free to collect twigs and other items from nature when you get your rocks, and design your own bug.
