#Working [Mom/Dad] Moment- Floating Boats!


Can you say “Toy Boat” 10 times fast? Materials: YouTube, glue (preferably hot glue), cardboard, 2 empty plastic water bottles and tape (preferably duct tape) or hot glue. Optional: a pair of chopsticks,twine, scrap piece of fabric and thread.

Main Learning Outcomes: Developing fine motor skills, science (sink and float) concepts and early literacy skills. Steps: (1) First, gather together with your child to read the story, “Toy Boat” by Randall de Sève. When you’re done, try it out in a kiddie pool, bucket or bathtub!

Tips: If you don’t have the items to make the sail, make the boat a raft instead. For older children, see if they can create their own boat that floats using these and other materials.
